October Chapter Meeting - THE VALUE THAT PRINCE2 CAN BRING EXPERIENCED, AND QUALIFIED, PROJECT MANAGERS
John Edmonds is the Senior PPM Architect at PeopleCert. The portfolio he looks after includes methods and frameworks such as PRINCE2®, PRINCE2® Agile, Managing Successful Programmes®, and Management of Risk®.
He was a member of the authoring team for the 2009 version of the globally recognised project management method PRINCE2, and a reviewer of the 2017 edition. He has practiced, trained and consulted in programme and project management for over 30 years, and has worked with a variety of highly respected accredited training organisations.
In his presentation, John will explain:
- what PRINCE2 is – and what it isn’t
- why it is suitable for any and every type of project
- how PRINCE2 sits positionally alongside the PMI Body of Knowledge, and
- why it is therefore complementary to PMBOK
- …and introduce the latest edition of the method – PRINCE2® 7
- Proof of Value: Pilot Program For Improving Project Success Rates
John will then take a look at some of the key elements of PRINCE2, and explore what benefits the method can bring to experienced, and PMI qualified, project managers. He will then suggest some ways in which we can consider combining the best of both worlds – PMBOK and PRINCE2.

John Edmonds has extensive experience in change, programme and project management, including roles in education, learning and development, and training. He was a member of the authoring team for PRINCE2 5th Edition, and a reviewer of the 6th edition.
He has practiced, trained and consulted in programme and project management for over 30 years, working with a variety of highly-respected accredited training organizations. John has designed and delivered learning and development events, courses and workshops in both the private and public sectors. He has instructed international learners from locations including Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Northern America.
John now acts as a subject matter expert who contributes to the development of the PPM portfolio, ensuring it remains the market_leader in management guidance, accreditation and certifications.
